Score Your Simple Assessment

What is a Simple Assessment? #

A Simple Assessment provides a score based on a respondent’s answers.

  • It’s like a school test without any right and wrong answers.
  • For example, an assessment can ask, “How likely would you enjoy a visit to the UK?” and answer out of 100%. You can set the range of scores from 1 to 100 or any other number. And you can provide custom feedback depending on the respondent’s score, such as: “Your score of 89% shows you would likely enjoy visiting the UK very much.”

Navigate to the Scoring Tab #

To score your Simple assessment, start by entering the Agolix editor.

First, select the “Edit” link in the menu underneath your assessment.

Edit assessment

Then click on the “Scoring” tab at the top of the page.

Scoring Tab

The “Scoring” page sets up how your assessments will be scored and provide feedback to your respondents based on their overall assessment score.

Manual and Automatic Scoring #

At the top of the page is a toggle where you can choose “Manual” or “Automatic” scoring.

Automatic and Manual Scoring

Automatic Scoring #

With “Automatic” scoring, Agolix assigns how many points go in each Score Band.

The total possible points are divided by the number of Score Bands; so if your assessment has 100 points and 4 Score Bands, each band covers 25 points.

Manual Scoring #

With “Manual” scoring, you set the values for your Score Ranges however you like.

For example, you can have High, Medium, and Low Score Bands and set the Score Range for each Score Band.

Set Presentation Order for Score Interpretations #

Next is where you set the presentation order for the score interpretations.

Set Score Interpretation Order

NOTE: This setting is only relevant when you also select to show score interpretation for “All score ranges” in the How Respondents Receive Their Results section under the “Results” tab.)

Here you can choose whether to display the score interpretation for the respondent’s score band first or present the score interpretations in the order you specify.

Show Score as a Percentage #

Moving down the page, there is an option to display respondents’ scores as a percentage of the total possible score.

When you check this option, your assessment range changes from the minimum and the maximum number of points available to 0% to 100% of the total possible score.

Show Assessment Score as a Percentage

You’ll also find that the min and max scores will change for any Score Bands you’ve already defined.

If your assessment is set to “Automatic” scoring, then the ranges for your Score Bands will be automatically adjusted to fit between 0 and 100%.

If your assessment is set to “Manual” scoring, then the ranges for your Score Bands may need to be adjusted to achieve your desired results. Any min and max scores below 0 and above 100% will be highlighted in red to indicate that a change is needed for those values.

Create Your Score Bands #

The next part of the page Is where you create your Score Bands.

Based on the point assignments you’ve made when you set up your assessment questions, the message here will show you the minimum and maximum possible scores for your assessment.
